In response to a ruling delivered at the last meeting of the Strategy Group and F1 Commission, in Paris, teams have altered the way driver’s names and number are displayed.
During the meeting, teams were warned that the FIA would take a strict approach where it was difficult to identify drivers.
The changes are intended to help fans recognise drivers and as car liveries are the same between drivers in the same team it can be difficult to spot a Lewis Hamilton from a Valtteri Bottas at full pace.
Mercedes have been the first to reveal their numbering and name placement. Making full use of the shark fin, the silver arrows have placed the initial of both drivers in addition their numbers at the highest point along the fin.
It’s a change of colour from red to blue for Bottas, whilst Hamilton maintains the red number
